A fabulous summer of events!

Summer 2024 has already heralded some fabulous author events, with more to come.

I was fortunate to be part of the organising committee for Retford Authors Group’s first self-hosted ‘Meet the Authors’ event, at Bassetlaw Museum in Retford, on the 8th June. It was a fabulous showcase of the talented authors I am fortunate to share the group with, and an opportunity to introduce ourselves to local readers. I gave my ‘Creating Gothic Monsters’ talk for the first time. We are making plans to host another similar event in 2025, on Saturday 7th June. We have lots of new ideas, which are already in motion.

Another enjoyable day was had today, at Bawtry Festival, as part of their Sunday Craft Fair. Again, I was in the delightful company of my fellow Retford Authors. The weather was stunning, if rather warm!

But the events are just beginning! July sees two more: the now annual tradition of hosting a market stall at Newark Book Festival’s Literature Market, on Saturday 13th July. Also, a first for me – hosting a talk at Lindley WI, on Monday 22nd July.

I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to share my writing with new readers from around the country. It is also enjoyable to meet many different people and talk about writing, getting published, my inspirations and my experiences.

September will see Gainsborough Book Festival, and I hope to attend some Christmas Markets this year (dates/ locations tba).

Of course, I am still seeking publication for my latest book, currently titled ‘Lucida Grey’, and I am hoping another publisher will take on ‘An Artist’s Muse’, after the unfortunate closure of Victorina Press. Alongside all the events I have this summer, I am hoping to also find time to begin writing the sequel to ‘An Artist’s Muse’ (as yet untitled!). Watch this space, dear readers…
